The Robinhood Stars have taken time to look back on an eventful and rewarding 2023 ANZ Premiership campaign with their end of season awards night.
In amongst one of the most competitive campaigns in competition history, the Stars enjoyed another successful year - winning nine regular season games, before advancing to another elimination final and second straight grand final, where they were beaten by the MG Mystics.
industrious midcourter Gina Crampton was awarded the Stonz Jewellers player of the year award for the second year in a row.
A valuable on-court leader, Crampton spearheaded the attack - linking well with all players on the court and forming a formidable combination with Mila Reuelu-Buchanan, who was named player's player of the year.
Reuelu-Buchanan produced tireless displays all season and added spark on the court, while showing poise and precision in important moments.
Shooter Amorangi Malesala enjoyed a breakout season and showed nerves of steel among many high-pressure moments throughout, while bringing flair onto the court and was rewarded with the member's choice player of the year and emerging talent awards.
The Matariki award is given to the player who displays the team values on and off the court. This year the award was shared by Gina Crampton and defender Holly Fowler.
Our National Netball League team the Comets also featured in the grand final after another strong year, where they were just pipped by the Central Manawa.
Shooter Crystal Maro was named Player of the Year, midcourters Tori Kolose and Abbie Leger shared the Players Choice Player of the Year award and shooter Jaelin Tulikaki picked up the Emerging Player of the Year gong.
The Stars men's invitational team continued to showcase the wonder of men's netball, with another highly competitive series against the Mystics men - where both teams won a game each.
Defender and captain Dan Rich was named men's player of the year.
Lisa and Katarina Kirikiri were celebrated for their selfless contributions all season as the volunteers of the year.
