Appointed the youngest to captain at the elite level in 2021, shooter and foundation player Maia Wilson will be back for an eighth season with the Stars in 2024. A precocious young talent, Wilson was a Silver Fern by the end of her debut season (2016) at just 19 years of age. Blessed with an unflappable temperament, accuracy and strong netballing nous, Wilson has been the Stars anchor at the shooting end since their formation in 2017. She topped the accuracy charts last season with an impressive 93.8 percent return while her volume was at an all-time high. She was a key performer in the NZU21 team’s World Youth Cup title win in 2017. In 2022, Wilson was a member of the Silver Ferns bronze medal-winning team at the Commonwealth Games and the 2023 World Cup team.
